Eagles Soar in District Championship

The Kickapoo Chiefs and the Joplin Eagles battled head-to-head last Friday night under the lights. Coming out on top, the Eagles overcame the Chiefs with a 45-29 score. This win ends Kickapoo’s winning streak of seven games.

There were many highlights from this game, including a series of outstanding plays by the senior trio: Hobbs Gooch, Quin Renfro, and Jonathan Williams. Gooch guided the offense with significant touchdowns and yards gained. The same was true for Renfro as he flew through the Chiefs’ defense. For Williams, an outstanding interception was obtained in the second quarter, leading the Eagles to a 28-7 lead.

Both teams persevered through the challenges faced last Friday, however, Joplin came out on top. It will be a battle of the birds to determine who is the better Eagle at Nixa next Friday at 7 p.m.
