Community gathers at Joplin’s Third Thursday

Community gathers at Joplins Third Thursday

Here in Joplin, we celebrate a community event called Third Thursday. Third Thursday is celebrated from March to October, the third Thursday of each of those months from 5:30 to 8:30. We block the main street so people can roam the streets and enjoy music, local artists, entertainment, and food. It’s a great time for families to get out and enjoy something that doesn’t cost a fortune, for friends to do something together, and it even helps local artists get their work out there.

Third Thursday started in 2007 as an indoor art walk and has turned into one of Joplin’s community signature events. Buildings open their doors, food trucks park outside, vendor tents, and there are even performance stages.

I’ve been to third Thursday a few times and I remember having a great time. It’s refreshing to get out and see our town is all out enjoying the same things. It really is a good time, especially if you’re just sitting at home wanting something to do. I recommend going at least once.
