Webb City Cardinals Defeat JHS Eagles to End Four Year Rivalry Win Streak

On Friday, September 15, 2023, Joplin and Webb City battled head-to-head to determine who was the better bird. Unfortunately, the Cardinals came out on top with a shocking 38-21 defeat, ending the four-year winning streak of the Eagles. 

Joplin scored the first touchdown of the night thanks to Whit Hafer, giving the Eagles a 7-0 lead. Shortly after, the score was tied with a touchdown by Webb City’s Gabe Johnson. The Cardinals then took the lead, the score being 14-7. By halftime, Joplin tied the score with a 29-yard touchdown made by Jett Beal. 

After halftime, the Cardinals regained their lead with a 37-yard field goal, making the score 17-14. Webb City’s lead was then extended to 24-14. Joplin responded with a 7-yard touchdown play made by Davin Thomas and Aidan Sampson, the score reaching 24-21. 

Further into the fourth quarter, Webb City made another touchdown. The score was then 31-21. To end the game, Webb City scored once again, closing the match with 38-21.
